Effective Communication

We had a workshop on Communication in Hospitals. It was attended by many specialists and nurses and few paramedics. During the inaugural session, one speaker mentioned few very crucial things...


It is always the individual perception which makes the difference in communication. 


The more knowledgeable people are the ones who lack the art of a good communication, more often..


Even physically challenged ones have dignity and they should be treated at par with normal, except the fact that they need more space and specifically designed facility at various places.


It was told that once there was a conference of all physically challenged people. They all argued upon one issue.. that we are not treated properly. Some one calls physically challenged , some say disabled, some others call us handicapped,... why after all? ... How good are the so called perfect people are ?.. 
So, they wanted to give a name for the normal beings. A lot of arguments, suggestions and brain storming.. Finally they came with one term '' TAB". .. What does it mean ?


It means - Temporarily Able Body. 


Yes, truly... no one is sure when things may change and a perfect body may turn disabled. Then why discriminate the others who are less able.. 


Thus, thinking before speaking is the necessity of time. Be empathetic, Be positive and be Cordial... Today someone is at need, tomorrow it may be us !

Boss management

People think, they know their strengths. But it is usually the other way round ! More often people know, what they are not good at. To perform better, it is essential that a person is aware of his / her strengths. And this can be achieved through- Feedback Analysis.

A smart boss will try to periodically give feedbacks.

So, one can produce results more efficiently, if he / she puts all efforts on their area of strengths.

Yes, simultaneously, one should try to develop upon the weaknesses and learn the ways of filling up the gaps.

In case of dealing with superiors, it is essential that one should know how one learns or gathers information. Some people learn by reading and some learn by speaking or listening.
If a boss is listening type, the subordinate has to tactful to impress upon the boss by speaking what the boss wants to listen...
And if a boss is a reading type, then art of putting things on file will be the ideal way of keeping the boss informed...
Well, all this I learnt quite late... wish Peter Drucker could teach us how to manage difficult bosses...
 Imagine if you are ready to sacrifice your peace, family life and personal comforts to contribute towards the development of the organisation, where you serve... And the boss says .. you are just not working..
Frustrating... No? So better, learn boss management fast...



 

Vishakhapatnam Station:What has gone wrong?

Visiting southern India has always been a pleasure trip. The life was a bit more disciplined there... Nice People, though reciprocating in their native language; still do no harm (Primum Non Nocere)...roads and streets clean...
It came as a shock and pain to find that Vishakhapatnam , the growing city of Andhra Pradesh was no more growing, It appeared as if the silk worm has started receding back into its cocoon.  The railway station which created a history with excellent housekeeping staff and an exemplary state of cleanliness within and outside the station are no more effective. Streets are equally dirty and roads with indisciplined traffic present a very strangerly image.. What has gone wrong? Is it the leadership failure? Or is it the Indian Trait which says 'Chalta Hai". 
Sometimes it is difficult to understand whether finding anomalies in some aspect is abnormal or is it because someone like me is a misfit to the present generation?...Lemme think again... 

Water or Petrol?

Well some great news that we may get water in place of petrol to run our cars ! Or probably they meant you get petrol at the rate of water ... But what will be the cost of water then ?
